Maggie the Magnet brings fun science experiments to Xbox and Switch

No children, science is not boring. It’s not boring at all and it’s fundamental to our understanding of the world and its many phenomena. And Maggie the Magnet is here to tell us to have fun with magnets, with her plethora of magnet-based physics puzzles.

Released today on Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch (with a PC release a few weeks ago), Maggie the Magnet is a fairly straightforward title. In fact, it is based on the press of a single button. Each of the 150+ levels sees you turn on our titular magnet, seeing it projected across the level in the direction of the designated magnet point in each puzzle. Turning it off halts Maggie’s movement, relying on momentum to perform a number of aerial stunts to get to various areas of the map.

It’s that simple, though when bouncy pads, fans and the like are thrown into the mix, one has to understand the different effect of each force like on Maggie, altering their button presses accordingly.

And there really isn’t a larger, shocking story at the center of this piece: Maggie simply loves doing science experiments – that’s her raison d’être, if you will – and has for that reason opened her own laboratory. How exactly she managed to get planning permission and licenses for it, being a magnet and all, anyone’s guess, but that’s about it.

Other Maggie the Magnet features include:

  • Use gravity and magnetic pull to navigate tricky single-screen stages!
  • Solve environmental puzzles involving physics and scientific principles.
  • Get started in the lab with one-button controls!
  • Master over 150 challenging levels.
  • Enjoy beautiful adaptive visuals that change with the soundtrack!

Do you want to give Maggie a pretty literal hand? Maggie the Magnet is available now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, visit Xbox Store where the price of admission to this lab is £4.19. Alternatively, the game is now on the Switch and PlayStation storefronts. A PC version is already in place.

Description of the game:

Use the powers of gravity and magnetic attraction to propel yourself through the lab and solve puzzles! There’s nothing Maggie loves more than science experiments! She is an animated magnet, able to turn her magnetic powers on and off whenever she wishes. Sensing the potential of scientific discoveries, she opened her own laboratory and now there is only one key element that keeps her from having fun and exploring her abilities. She needs someone to oversee the experiments! Are you ready for the task? Maggie the Magnet is a physics-based puzzle game, in which all gameplay is centered around a single button. Holding it down activates Maggie’s magnetic powers, causing her to fly in the direction of the magnet point, a metal plate with 4 magnets attached. Releasing it allows Maggie to perform all manner of aerial stunts as she flies over gaps using gravity and built-up momentum. Launch Maggie into the lab and experience the unique layout of over 150 challenging levels!
