Admissions to the National Museum of the Institute of Art History, Conservation and Museology

The National Museum Institute of Art History, Conservation and Museology, a reputable university under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, having its campus at A-19, Institutional Area, Sector-62, Noida, UP-201309, invited applications for admission to master’s courses for the 2022‐23 academic session.

The admission requirements for the various programs are as follows:

MA (History of Art): A graduate degree from a recognized university with a good academic record with a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent grade at graduate level.

Desirable: A background in the social sciences, liberal arts or fine arts.

MA (Conservation): Advanced degree from a recognized university in Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology or Visual Arts/Fine Arts or Architecture, Engineering and Technology with a minimum of 50% marks or a Advanced degree from a recognized university in one of the history, geography, anthropology, archeology or related disciplines with minimum grades of 50% and 10+2/upper secondary education / intermediate in the scientific field.

MA (Museology): Advanced degree from a recognized university in one of the following subjects: arts, sciences, social sciences and humanities with a minimum mark of 50%.

Desirable: A pre-service diploma/PG in subjects related to art history and museum studies.

Knowledge of a classical/foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Italian other than language Kindergarten will be an additional qualification for admission to Masters courses.

Service personnel working with central government / state government / self-governing organization / central or state government funded universities / NGOs (in that order) with at least 5 years of regular service , having the required qualification above, will also be eligible to apply.

Number of seats: art history-25; Conservation-15, Museology-15.

The completed application form, together with self‐attested copies of testimonials (proof of age and educational qualifications) can be emailed to the Deputy Registrar, National Institute of Museums at [email protected] to be reached before 5 p.m. on the last day of submission of the application. which is one month from the date of publication of the admission notice in the newspapers (the admission notice is dated 6.5.2022). The name of the course for which the application is sent must be clearly mentioned on the application form and in the subject of the e-mail.

Those interested in applying for more than one course should submit a separate application with testimonials for each course.

Selection will be based on a one-hour written test for shortlisted candidates, followed by personal interaction. The program of the written entrance examination to the master’s courses is available in the notification.
